What to expect?
The two key types of Goods in Transit are;
1. Carriage of own goods – when you are transporting business related goods, for example a tradesperson transporting his/her own tools in his/her van or truck.
2. Marine Cargo / Goods in Transit Insurance provides cover for goods whilst being transported by another party by road, sea or air. We can normally arrange All Risks Cover to cover most types of loss or damage.
What else to consider?
A big question here is how much to insure the goods for.
The answer is that you should insure for the replacement cost of the goods.
For Marine Cargo/ Goods in transit, prior to confirming cover, you will be required to give details of “the voyage” e.g. by, sea, by road or by air and the maximum load for each transit.
There are numerous optional extras for the business to consider and we will discuss and advise you on these. These will include covers such as;
-Directors and Officers Liability
-Material Damage cover
-Public and Products Laibility
-Key Man Insurance – what if a key director of the business was to become seriously ill and unable to contribute to the business?
