What to expect?
Material Damage Insurance policies can have differences. The more common are;
The excess amount (the amount you have to pay in respect of each and every claim)
Cover Exclusions – these can differ by type of insurance and sometimes by product type or insurance provider
Warranties and Endorsements; These are policy terms that you must continually comply with to ensure that the insurance cover remains valid e.g. “It is warranted that waste materials are collected daily and stored at least 25 metres away from the premises”
What else to consider?
You will need to consider that your sums insured for the Material damage section are adequate as “Average” will be applied to claims e.g. if your building is insured for €500,000 but is really worth a €1,000,000 – then in the event of a claim, the insurer will only pay you half of any loss (on the basis that they were only receiving half of the correct premium)
Optional Extras
There are numerous optional extras for the business to consider and we will discuss and advise you on these. These will include covers such as;
- Public and Products Liability
- Employers Liability
- Glass cover
- Goods in Transit/ Marine
- Fleet Insurance
- Key Man Insurance – what if a key director of the business was to become seriously ill and unable to contribute to the business?
